Vladimir Mitrev Étude Mort

Vladimir Mitrev's video Étude mort is part of the series in which the artist performs two roles simultaneously.

The video plot is being suggested right by the title Étude mort (the French term for the classical artistic genre “still life”) – the painter meets himself on a neutral grey background, the two figures being distinguished by their black and white clothing. The figure in black targets his white antipode with a pistol in hand and shoots him dead with a precise shot in the head. The fine arts term “dead nature” is being presented here through the filter of irony and at the same time is materialized literally as a etude about death.
