By this treatment, familiar subjects become unrecognizable and require new investigation. The shape-shifting ambiguity made possible by the photographic lens resonates with my general sense of a world unseen by the naked eye, a world of possibilities.
The Accumulations series is about what lies beneath the surface of our skin. Using bacon as subject, Parsley Steinweiss has taken pictures that examine fat, muscle and patterns of growth within the body. These photographs also play with the relationship between beauty and the grotesque.
