Vera Hofmann made up the newspaper Neoplex where her research of German newspaper and Internet articles can be found, combined with her own photographs as an interpretation layer to the text. Within the newspapers, the topics range from information about the financial crisis itself over to further analysis, backgrounds and possible solutions concerning media, society and political system.
The framed photographs express the artist’s personal perception of society’s status quo. At first glance, everything is in order and free of problems but underneath the smooth surface of the photographed stages, discomforting shifts can be realized. Aspects like system interventions, displacements of reality by the media, growing individualization and alienation, shakiness of opinions as a result of complex entanglements all lead the artist to this photographic conversions.
This project continued throughout 2012.
