Biography

Makoto Sasaki

Makoto Sasaki was born in 1971 in Yubari-shi, Hokkaido, Japan. He graduated Osaka University of Foreign Studies, majored in Arabic language, in 1994.

He has received several awards, including Tagboat Autumn Award 2009, The Jury’s Special Award, Tsutomu Ikeuchi Award (2009), Getty Images Japan “Click! Real Japan” 3rd place (2011), and Young Artists Japan Vol. 4, The Jury’s Special Award, Kentaro Totsuka Award (2011), and his work was featured in numerous group exhibitions, including Altered States of Reality, Agora Gallery, New York (2008), Tagboat Summer Award 2009, Art Complex Hall, Tokyo and Tokyo Kotsu Kaikan (2009), Florence Biennale 2009, Florence (2009), Tagboat Award, Turner Gallery, Tokyo (2010), Chianciano International Award for Digital and Photographic Art, Art Museum of Chianciano Terme, Siena, Italy (2010), The International Artists At Home & Abroad exhibition series, Broadway Gellary NYC, New York (2011), Getty Images Japan “Click!
