Curator’s Office invites you to join for a lively and entertaining gallery talk by artist Jason Horowitz as he discusses works in his mini-retrospective exhibition, Closer & Closer: Jason Horowitz, Works Thru Time 1980 – 2014. Following the talk, artist Bradley Chriss will perform Meat Poem for Jason, a chthonic and, in the artist’s terms, “interactive art ritual that summons our deepest feelings from the act of claiming and killing another living being.” Chriss summons “the battle between two living creatures fighting for reproductive privilege, and exerting their will power to the greatest possible levels.” We, the audience, should be prepared to “divide our hearts and minds into two, bury ourselves within the terror of food and the exquisite taste of overpowering another being. With our blood-soaked hands shall we cover our minds and become both hunter and hunted, and revel in those roles together.”
Curious? Come witness and participate. It is advised not to wear your favorite designer duds. While there are chairs available, be prepared to sit on the floor for the performance. The performance may not be suitable for the squeamish.
